Our Mission
Soil Conservation Districts began in 1937 when the U.S. was in the middle of an ecological disaster -
​The Dust Bowl.  
The Wood County Soil Conservation District was chartered July 8, 1949. 
Dedicated to the care of the environment through responsible land and water policies, conservation practices, development, oversight and environmental education.
Our Vision
To be recognized as the lead Wood County Agency providing innovative tools to protect natural resources and enhance the quality of life for present and future generations.

Ohio Soil Health Week

Ohio Soil Health Week is the second full week of November. The weeklong celebration provides a space and time to honor and recognize one of Ohio's most valuable natural resources: our soil. Beginning Sunday, November 9, there will be a range of farm tours, film screenings, networking events, webinars, and more to raise awareness around soil health and encourage all of us to play a role in protecting it. To access soil-related resources, hear from Ohioans about their relationships with the soil, and see a list of upcoming events, visit ohiosoilhealthweek.com.  In celebration, the Wood SWCD invites the public to visit the district office at 1616 E. Wooster St. Suite 32, Bowling Green, OH to see the "Soil Your Undies" display and pick up a DIY "Make a Model Soil" kit.

The Wood Soil and Water Conservation District Board of Supervisors holds the regular monthly meetings the third Friday of each month at 8:00 a.m. at the district  office.  The meetings are open to the public.
