“We shouldn't practice stewardship because of the threat of regulation, but because it's the right thing to do.” - Beth Bechdol, Indiana Agribusiness
With approximately 269,000 acres of farmland in Wood County, or nearly two-third of the total landmass of Wood County, ag producers are the primary consumers of the land. The Wood Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) is a county agency designed to help ag producers and landowners be good stewards of the earth all while providing food to feed the world and make a living doing so.
In cooperation with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), the Wood SWCD offers opportunities for producers participate in incentive programs, workshops, and conferences to achieve the best results from an ag operation. Experienced District Technicians are available for consultation on drainage, nutrient management, and soil health and water quality. Contact us for the current trends conservation. |
