#4 SR 199/ Baird
Radishes were planted on 5th August at the rate of 6lbs/acre with a Great Plains No-Till drill. Volunteer wheat also came up. The radishes will die off after some heavy frost this winter and the wheat will need a shot of Round-Up in the early spring. This field was wheat this past crop season and will be planted to corn.
He has been raising cover crops for 5 years and has seen tremendous results in their use in a sustainable agriculture program. Pulling up rotten radish roots and seeing hundreds of earth worms enjoying the old radish flesh is very satisfying.
